What is a Sativa Strain

The beautiful thing about cannabis is that there are hundreds of strains to choose from, with each resulting in distinctly different effects and highs. Not every strain is going to give you that relaxing and sedative high, and some strains can actually do quite the opposite, like Sativa!

Compared to many Indica types, Sativas are more energizing, and many Sativa varieties have a distinct look. The plant itself usually has long, light green leaves. The unique combinations of terpenes and cannabinoids in Sativas produces a more mentally stimulating effect, making these strains great for daytime use. This effect is sometimes called a head high

Some find that these effects help induce a creative mindset or allow them to socialize more confidently. However, they may not be for everyone and may result in anxiety and paranoia, especially if over-consumed. If you think you may be sensitive to anxiety, it’s always a good practice to start off with small amounts and work your way up when you feel comfortable.

The uplifting effects of Sativa make this strain an excellent option for daytime use, with some using it as a way to boost focus and increase productivity. After a day of socializing and productivity on a  Sativa strain, you can always use an Indica strain to wind down for the day and prepare for bed. Knowing these different types of cannabis strains will help you confidently stroll the dispensary aisles so you can choose the perfect product on your next visit.

At Mile High Dispensary, we know that cannabis users come from all walks of life and one high does not fit all. We love cannabis for its diversity in both aesthetics and effects, and we’re always a trusted resource to turn to when you want to know the right cannabis product for your body and your lifestyle.
